Lauren and Brodie were the last of my September weddings, a month that had bookend perfect weather days and in the middle a bit more damp than we all would had preferred.
Most of the day was an ode to their hometown of Perrysburg. Lauren dressed at the darling Guesthouse downtown Perrysburg, a location I would highly recommend to anyone being married at Saint Rose! Their setup is top notch and much more photogenic the the beautiful Saint Rose basement location where my past bride’s had gotten ready. Lauren’s first look with her father gave us all goosebumps, a moment that makes me wish for a daughter for my husband. It is such a special bond & I adore when we have the chance to capture it.
A traditional Catholic ceremony was held at Saint Rose in Perrysburg… Brodie saw his wife to be for the first time as she walk down the aisle hand in hand with her father. The church is one of my favourites to photograph in. It is lit perfectly & makes for dramatic yet airy ceremony images.
The sunshine, blue skies & perfect amount of warmth hugged us all as we took to downtown Toledo for creative portraits. I was so very excited for the two of them not to have to worry about weather. I couldn’t contain my excitement to have not a cloud in the sky.
Registry Bistro hosted their reception… we have been there several times and it so cool to see how each couple uses the unique space to tailor it to their style and personalities!
Biggest congrats to Lauren + Brodie! Their warmth and gentle nature was fantastic to document. They both had a calmness the whole day, which is rare and set the tone to what the day was really all about. :)

Erika + Nathan’s downtown Toledo wedding photos with Toledo’s skyline & murals are modern + artistic. When we were discussing photo locations for Erika and Nathan’s Toledo wedding, they said they wanted to highlight their home town of Toledo, classic downtown Toledo. They were getting married downtown at the gorgeous St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with a bridal parlor that made us swoon! Registry Bistro hosted their reception with grazing stations of amazing food by Chef Erika Rapp. The space has character, doubles as an art gallery. Registry Bistro is located in the historic Toledo building, Secor Hotel. It has a modern, industrial atmosphere. The ideal wedding venue for a modern, artistic couple looking for a non-cookie cutter Toledo Wedding Venue. The ballroom was decorated by Chicago Event designer Andi Allen which featured a custom made LOVE marquee light on the dance floor as a focal point. Their glow stick exit ended the night along with a vintage Nova. Toledo wedding photographer Mary Wyar Photography at Registry Bistro downtown Toledo reception.
An intimate candlelit wedding at an art gallery in a the historic Secor Building with 30 guests… Yes!! Sign me up! Emily & Brad’s wedding day at Registry Bistro was simple, romantic, good food & good people. Great reminder that less is more sometimes. I was totally smitten with these two, they let their personalities shine throughout the whole day. It was a pleasure & an honor to document it for them… and a total blast trying my hand at photographing a candlelit ceremony with only available light. Congrats you two!!!

It was a labor of love for a few months, collaborating on this shoot with Aimee of Modernly Events. I photographed Aimee & Matthew’s wedding in September of 2012 & we shared a common love of mid century modern design, architecture & furnishings. I recall leaving their wedding & saying to them: ‘It’s totally normal to want to start doing weddings’ (or something to that affect). I think in the back of my head, I saw that she excelled at completing a cohesive vision for a large event. If you peek through their wedding, you’ll see just how true this is. I was thrilled when I heard of her new venture into event design & furniture rental! She came up with the initial concept based on artist Alexander Girard’s sun imagery & we went bananas from there bringing that vision to life. It was a total blast, stressful, but I am so so happy with how everything came together!
Big thanks to all the professionals involved…
