What I love about Toledo, is we really do have a tight knit group of photographers who are happy to help each other out. When I was asked by Grand Lubell to cover a wedding for them at Rosary Cathedral and Toledo Country Club, I was thrilled at the venue choices. After meeting Kristen and Carl a week or so later, I was honored to document the day for them and their families. Neither are from Toledo, Detroit area actually, so doing a destination wedding in Toledo was a choice. The couple was warm & so happy to have Sarah and I there for them. It was a great day.
Kristen and Carl has a dramatic ceremony at THE Rosary Cathedral in Toledo’s Old West End neighborhood. Their reception at Toledo Country Club was full of great dancing, stellar music provided by Bluewater Kings Band. Bartz Viviano, once again, crafted beautiful florals & bouquets!!! Beautiful July wedding!

Erika + Nathan’s downtown Toledo wedding photos with Toledo’s skyline & murals are modern + artistic. When we were discussing photo locations for Erika and Nathan’s Toledo wedding, they said they wanted to highlight their home town of Toledo, classic downtown Toledo. They were getting married downtown at the gorgeous St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with a bridal parlor that made us swoon! Registry Bistro hosted their reception with grazing stations of amazing food by Chef Erika Rapp. The space has character, doubles as an art gallery. Registry Bistro is located in the historic Toledo building, Secor Hotel. It has a modern, industrial atmosphere. The ideal wedding venue for a modern, artistic couple looking for a non-cookie cutter Toledo Wedding Venue. The ballroom was decorated by Chicago Event designer Andi Allen which featured a custom made LOVE marquee light on the dance floor as a focal point. Their glow stick exit ended the night along with a vintage Nova. Toledo wedding photographer Mary Wyar Photography at Registry Bistro downtown Toledo reception.
The story goes that the first time Ben took Andrea out to Kelleys Island, where his family had always vacationed, she was not thrilled about the idea of spending a week on a small island in Lake Erie off of Sandusky, Ohio. They are both from the Philadelphia area, so it is no wonder she was less than thrilled. The car ride out there she told Ben they were not going to stay the whole week, there would be nothing to do, etc. You get the picture. Upon arriving on Kelleys Island they saw a wedding take place. Andrea turned to Ben and said: Oh my gosh! I want to get married here!
5 years later, they did just that. Kelleys Island is their place. Its laid back, low key beauty is something they treasure. They were over the moon that 70 of their closest friends and family made the 8 1/2 hour drive out to the Lake Erie Island for their wedding. Their wedding truly encompassed that island life feel. Low key, complimenting the vintage home whose lawn they tied the knot on. Visiting the old winery ruins in the woods and enjoying the (thank goodness!) blue waters we lucked out with that day. Perfect day.
Congrats you two! It was an honor to spend the day visiting your special place and capturing you in your element. :)

When I initially met with Kelly and Brett, they didn’t have a whole lot of plans finalized. They wanted something different, something that showcased their love of Toledo + Toledo food, a venue that allowed them to put a unique spin on a timeline and add a multimedia element.
Their wedding in the Arts building of Owens Community College in Perrysburg was brilliantly personal. They produced a video that played before the ceremony that told not only their love story, but their individual stories in a touching yet humorous way.
Kelly + Brett were a joy to photograph. Their deep love for one another was evident from our first meeting and was so lovely to see them become married and start this exciting new chapter in their lives.
Congrats you two!! :)

One of the most enjoyable aspects of being a Toledo wedding photographer, is collaborating with other creatives. I was approached by photographer friend BOB LUBELL to photograph Anita + Rahul’s Wedding and I of course accepted the invitation! Rahul and Anita’s love story is remarkable… and having the opportunity to document the weekend of events celebrating their love story was an honor. Thank you to Anita & Rahul for inviting me to make these joyful images!!!
As we were wrapping up Erin and John’s formal family photos (not pictured here ) I looked out the church doors and saw the sheets of snow coming down. There is this excitement even with adults for the season’s first snow. It was gorgeous. The crab trees lining the church driveway along with the red shawl Erin’s bridesmaid lent here, made me giddy. I didn’t have to convince them to do photos in the snow, they were down and excited. That moment making amazing images in the snow is why I love what I do. Magical.
Rachel + Dani had already been married for about 7 years before I first met with them to photograph their ring ceremony + reception. I was over the moon to hear they were planning a legit party at one of my favourite Toledo wedding venues, Toledo Museum of Art’s Glass Pavilion. It is a beautiful venue with unique art throughout, glassy + classy modern aesthetic and amazing food from TMA’s executive Chef Felix. The abundance of heart felt speeches and words from their closest friends and family throughout the night, made us feel quite honored to document such a special day for the couple. It was even more special that their two children were there to partake in the celebration.
Thank you and congrats to Dani + Rachel + their families for trusting us in documenting their special day. We adore you all & are so happy you’re enjoying the photos!
Happy New Year!!! Cheers to 2016!

I recently discovered that the city, Oregon, where Abbie + Nick grew up is a town where everyone knows one another. So when I mentioned to other Oregon couples that I was photographing Abbie and Nick’s wedding every single person said how fun and hilarious the two of them are! The day of the wedding was no exception. As you’ll see they had a huge bridal party that was a blast to hang out with and was up for my silly photos. Abbie + Nick were all smiles even with the gloomy weather, which thankfully didn’t turn to rainy weather until well in to the reception. We were able to visit Abbie’s grandmother’s lake front property for an exceptional backdrop!
Thank you + congrats to Abbie + Nick for allowing us to share your special day with you… I think we’ve somehow earned our Oregon honorary residents badge ;)
