Lauren and Brodie were the last of my September weddings, a month that had bookend perfect weather days and in the middle a bit more damp than we all would had preferred.
Most of the day was an ode to their hometown of Perrysburg. Lauren dressed at the darling Guesthouse downtown Perrysburg, a location I would highly recommend to anyone being married at Saint Rose! Their setup is top notch and much more photogenic the the beautiful Saint Rose basement location where my past bride’s had gotten ready. Lauren’s first look with her father gave us all goosebumps, a moment that makes me wish for a daughter for my husband. It is such a special bond & I adore when we have the chance to capture it.
A traditional Catholic ceremony was held at Saint Rose in Perrysburg… Brodie saw his wife to be for the first time as she walk down the aisle hand in hand with her father. The church is one of my favourites to photograph in. It is lit perfectly & makes for dramatic yet airy ceremony images.
The sunshine, blue skies & perfect amount of warmth hugged us all as we took to downtown Toledo for creative portraits. I was so very excited for the two of them not to have to worry about weather. I couldn’t contain my excitement to have not a cloud in the sky.
Registry Bistro hosted their reception… we have been there several times and it so cool to see how each couple uses the unique space to tailor it to their style and personalities!
Biggest congrats to Lauren + Brodie! Their warmth and gentle nature was fantastic to document. They both had a calmness the whole day, which is rare and set the tone to what the day was really all about. :)

Kait+Pat’s mid century modern wedding at Toledo Country Club had me so very humbled to have made the cut! Bee for the Day made everything run smooth. Bartz Viviano outdid themselves with beautiful succulent planters with bright tropical flowers that made me wish I knew how to keep such lovely things alive in my own home. AND my girl Aimee at Modernly Events brought in pops of vintage decor, aqua + teak & all sorts of mid century modern goodness! Oh my EAMES ;)
When Rachel and I arrived at the hotel were Dan was getting in his tux + bow tie to blue skies and sunshine… I thought: We are SO not going to have a rainy day for these two! If you remember their engagement session, they basically beamed sunshine the whole time. They make their faces light up and laughs & smiles & things come so easily with this pair. They are a dream! Well… mother nature must have determined that their inner sunshine was all that we could handled because it RAINED. That’s a-ok, we are professionals and Toledo Country Club boasts a damn good porch that gave them all the coverage they needed ;)

I remember the evening I first FaceTimed with Maude + Zach, who live in Baltimore, I felt inspired by their enthusiasm, energy & overall good vibes. I hung up thinking, they would be amazing to work with! When their email came through to make it official a few days later, I was pumped. I knew it would be a lovely day.
Sometimes it isn’t so much about having pretty things to photograph, although their wedding certainly encompassed the colorful & lush florals that I recall them describing, but just having the honor in photographing a day for two people who you know are perfect compliments for one another. Soul twins- as I recently heard a best man describe another couple. Being able to witness the joy a whole family has for the couple, the traditions & personal touches that will make it a day where they were all together for a few hours just celebrating & having fun. Absorbing good vibrations in a tent in Perrysburg with our cameras. That is really what makes being a wedding photographer worth it. It is bonus points when there is an abundance of amazing tropical flowers & a wedding dress that takes your breath away… or the fireworks. I mean, it would be good to have more fireworks at weddings.
Thank you Maude and Zach for the honor of inviting our crew in documenting this special day for you & your families. It was beautiful in every way.

Jess + Chris call Washington D.C. home but Catawba Island area is a quite special place to them. It is where Chris proposed to Jessica, a spot we visited again after they said I do and it is near Jessica’s mother’s home. The lake erie behaved for us, displayed an stunning sunset & all the pieces fell together so these two could celebrate with their closest friends and family. It was an absolutely gorgeous day for a lovely couple & we felt honored to photograph the celebration.

What I love about Toledo, is we really do have a tight knit group of photographers who are happy to help each other out. When I was asked by Grand Lubell to cover a wedding for them at Rosary Cathedral and Toledo Country Club, I was thrilled at the venue choices. After meeting Kristen and Carl a week or so later, I was honored to document the day for them and their families. Neither are from Toledo, Detroit area actually, so doing a destination wedding in Toledo was a choice. The couple was warm & so happy to have Sarah and I there for them. It was a great day.
Kristen and Carl has a dramatic ceremony at THE Rosary Cathedral in Toledo’s Old West End neighborhood. Their reception at Toledo Country Club was full of great dancing, stellar music provided by Bluewater Kings Band. Bartz Viviano, once again, crafted beautiful florals & bouquets!!! Beautiful July wedding!

Erika + Nathan’s downtown Toledo wedding photos with Toledo’s skyline & murals are modern + artistic. When we were discussing photo locations for Erika and Nathan’s Toledo wedding, they said they wanted to highlight their home town of Toledo, classic downtown Toledo. They were getting married downtown at the gorgeous St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with a bridal parlor that made us swoon! Registry Bistro hosted their reception with grazing stations of amazing food by Chef Erika Rapp. The space has character, doubles as an art gallery. Registry Bistro is located in the historic Toledo building, Secor Hotel. It has a modern, industrial atmosphere. The ideal wedding venue for a modern, artistic couple looking for a non-cookie cutter Toledo Wedding Venue. The ballroom was decorated by Chicago Event designer Andi Allen which featured a custom made LOVE marquee light on the dance floor as a focal point. Their glow stick exit ended the night along with a vintage Nova. Toledo wedding photographer Mary Wyar Photography at Registry Bistro downtown Toledo reception.
The story goes that the first time Ben took Andrea out to Kelleys Island, where his family had always vacationed, she was not thrilled about the idea of spending a week on a small island in Lake Erie off of Sandusky, Ohio. They are both from the Philadelphia area, so it is no wonder she was less than thrilled. The car ride out there she told Ben they were not going to stay the whole week, there would be nothing to do, etc. You get the picture. Upon arriving on Kelleys Island they saw a wedding take place. Andrea turned to Ben and said: Oh my gosh! I want to get married here!
5 years later, they did just that. Kelleys Island is their place. Its laid back, low key beauty is something they treasure. They were over the moon that 70 of their closest friends and family made the 8 1/2 hour drive out to the Lake Erie Island for their wedding. Their wedding truly encompassed that island life feel. Low key, complimenting the vintage home whose lawn they tied the knot on. Visiting the old winery ruins in the woods and enjoying the (thank goodness!) blue waters we lucked out with that day. Perfect day.
Congrats you two! It was an honor to spend the day visiting your special place and capturing you in your element. :)
