I finally met Jenna & Kyle after months of them being just names next to a date on my calendar.  They are the cutest couple, constantly making each other laugh and smile... I was beyond pumped with their adorable-ness!  We cruised around Grand Rapids Ohio for their engagement photos, finding lots of oddities, and rad nooks.  So stoked for their wedding day! It will be October before you know it!

I absolutely adore my couples.  I get asked all the time by people, once it is revealed that I am a wedding photographer, if I have ever had a crazy bride... and while there have been a couple, most of my couples are the kindest, most fun people I have ever met!  Kristin and Kenny are definitely in my top 5 of sweetest couples ever.  Obviously if a couple is amazing to their wedding photographer, they are quadruple sweet to each other!  So yes, I love when I am able to photograph people like these two.  It really does seem silly that I actually get paid to do this... pretty perfect day.  They had a gorgeous ceremony at the lovely Corpus Christi church in Toledo... absolutely adore this church!

ceremony: chorpus christi church toledo ohio
reception: holland gardens ohio

As I mentioned in the previous post, the main reason Phil and I headed to Seattle was so I could do a mentoring session of the frickin amazing Sarah and Chris Rhoads of Sarah Rhoads Photographers.  I learned a ton from them both, and am so grateful that were that I was able to gain this invaluable knowledge from them at the start of my business... I can't wait to share with my amazing couples all the new knowledge that has been fed into my brain!

At the end of our session, we did a photo shoot with Mary and Scott, who are wedding photographers in L.A.  They were amazing 'models' who looked like an Urban Outfitters catalog, which I loved!!! Note to anyone who doesn't know what to wear to a portrait session... UO! They were also celebrating their one year wedding anniversary, making it that much more rad!! Oh and their props.  Oh and that they were just super rad people!

I love the photos below, and the new direction we're going in.... :)

Thank you so much to Sarah, Chris, Mary & Scott!!! You made my Seattle experience so much more than just a vacation!!!

On June 24th Phil and I headed out on the road for our 5000 mile drive to and back from Seattle.

Why did we drive instead of just flying?!?  As some of you know, a few months ago I bought a new car, the Honda Insight Hybrid which I am in love with and why not just drive it across the country, right?!  I felt like we were in one of those commercials for it.

Why Seattle?  I did a life changing mono-e-mono mentoring session with the fricking amazing Sarah & Chris Rhoads of Sarah Rhoads Photographers... and Seattle has been a city I have been longing to visit.  I always had a feeling that it was me, and it didn't disappoint.  The weather, the people, the food, the coffee, the scenery.... I am in love with that city.  On Monday [June 29th] I did a my 8 hour mentoring session, and ended it up with a super rad shoot with Mary Frances & her hubby Scott [more on that shoot later].

I wanted to share some of the photos we took along the way.... there are a lot.  Also, the slideshow below is best viewed in any browser other than Internet Explorer.... I love Firefox :) Also, you can double click below to view them in full screen!!

Before the actual wedding day, I usually meet with them 3 times prior (including the engagement photo shoot), so I get a sense of how the couple interacts with each other and their personalities.  On Saturday Beth and Randy were married and I had never seen them happier!  They were adorably all smiles and laughs... we had an amazing day with them!
